The Concierge Choice UK programme is an exclusive, limited membership programme that combines the expertise of GPs who care for NHS patients with the personalised approach, time and convenience of private healthcare.
I was born and brought up in Ealing, West London and knew that I wanted to be a General Practitioner from about the age of 12. I went to medical school at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, and then completed my 3 year General Practitioner training at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. I have been a GP for 30 years, spending the first 2 years as a Partner in Ealing but moved to set up my current Practice in 1991 starting out single handed. I am now the Senior Partner at Knightsbridge Medical Centre which is a large, 9 doctor training Practice.
I have postgraduate Diplomas of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (DRCOG) and the Faculty of Sexual Health & Reproductive Health (DFSRH) and hold Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). In 2000 I did an MSc in Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and was awarded Honours.
Concierge patients will get a bespoke convenient service and can choose how to access me through the surgery or e-mail, mobile, text or Skype. This will ensure that appointments can be tailored to patient needs. The doctor patient relationship is unique and personal and the annual one hour comprehensive medical and blood tests along with 30 minute consultations will ensure continuity of care and a successful partnership with each patient. Home visits are also available too. Being a family doctor for 30 years has been very rewarding helping patients not only with their medical conditions but also with advice on wellbeing and preventing ill health. Looking after many second generation families has also been a privilege.
My specialist interests include managing long-term conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma and COPD as well as children’s health, men and women’s health and psychiatry. My experience as local GP means that I have extensive contacts and personal knowledge of many specialists whom I have direct access to.
I have always been interested in education and training and have been a GP trainer since 1993 and more than 35 doctors have completed their training at our Practice to become fully qualified GPs. I am currently on the Quality Standards Advisory Committee for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). I have held senior positions in the NHS including commissioning roles, being Chair of the local Practice-Based Commissioning Group for 6 years before being elected Chair of the West London Clinical Commissioning Group (WLCCG) which is responsible for the £350million budget purchasing acute and community services on behalf of the 230000 patients in the WLCCG area. In April 2018 I completed my 11 year tenure as School Governor at Bute House Preparatory School for Girls.
As Medical Director of the company Concierge Choice UK I see this as an exciting opportunity for GP’s to provide a bespoke Private General Practice Service to a limited number of patients who will be able to hand-pick their Concierge GP. An annual comprehensive medical and blood tests, 30 minute consultations, personal access to their Concierge GP via their method of choice (mobile, text, email, Skype, Surgery) with continuity of care and an emphasis on overall wellbeing will meet the needs of many patients.
Chairman of the Board
I am a chartered accountant and have been a partner with Ramsay Brown and Partners since 1987. My specialism is advising and working with GPs and GP practices and their federations.
I have acted as an advisor to the NHS and the BMA on a number of issues from pensions, the review body and contract funding, publication of GP’s earnings, as well as many general issues.
Since 1989 I have been writing a regular column in GP magazine and Medeconomics, advising GPs on financial and practice management. I lecture regularly to GPs, practice managers and GP registrars on matters of personal and practice finance both in the UK and overseas.
I have appeared as an expert witness in a number of legal civil actions involving GPs.
I have written a number of books on general practice, the latest of which is, “How to manage your GP practice”.
I am married to a GP, and have four children all of whom are (almost) settled in their own careers.
I enjoy classical history, completing an Open University degree specializing in Classical Studies in 2015. Fitness is more hit and miss, I enjoy being fit but there is always something more interesting to do! Nevertheless, I have run the London Marathon twice, and in 2016 and 2017 completed the one mile open water swim at the Royal Victoria Dock.
My wife and I share a passion for the theatre and opera, and most weekends can be found in London enjoying (mostly) the culture.
I am a passionate supporter of General Practice and fervently believe that Continuity of Care is an essential part of good care. As a founding member of Concierge Choice UK, I am proud to be involved with a scheme that will deliver all that is best in traditional GP care.
Associate Medical Director
I qualified at University College Hospital in 1979 having been the first person in my family to go to university. I joined the Vocational GP training scheme at Barnet General Hospital and completed my training at a local practice in North London. My main interests were Women’s medicine and Psychotherapy. I happily ran a private practice alongside my NHS commitment for 11 years.
I retired from general practice 5 years ago which has allowed me the time to indulge my interests in interior design and gardening. I am currently studying English Landscape Gardens on a distance course at Oxford University.
I love doing Pilates which keeps me fit enough to travel to distant places to enjoy watching wildlife in it’s natural habitat. We have our own wildlife garden at home which brings us enormous pleasure.
My other great interest is theatre and opera which seems to occupy most evenings at the weekend.
Our four children are all married and have now “flown the nest”.
I have been involved in Concierge Choice UK from it’s very inception in 2016. I passionately believe in the principles of the doctor/patient relationship and continuity of care and believe that CCUK will deliver this now and maintain it for the future.
Pioneering one of the most successful medical practice models in the US, Wayne Lipton has forged a long and productive career serving the medical community. Recognizing that healthcare is a quickly evolving landscape, he identified a key challenge faced by physicians and patients to provide and receive personalized medical care—a concept threatened by managed care and government regulations. Lipton’s drive to fix this problem led him to design a unique physician practice model, which he has offered for more than 10 years now. Lipton is Managing Partner for Concierge Choice Physicians, LLC, and one of the most experienced and successful companies in concierge medicine.
Lipton graduated from Harvard College in 1973 with a degree in Biochemistry. He attended the University of Chicago Business School, and the Boston Architectural Center. He was formerly a chief operating o¬fficer for PhyMatrix, a public healthcare company; chief operating o¬fficer for Physicians Choice, a Connecticut IPA and practice management company; and president and principal of Richmond Way Stores, a local chain of drug stores that he operated for 20 years.
He speaks regularly to physician groups on best practice innovations, since his flexible concierge care models have been adapted for small and large medical groups, as well as various academic institutions. He has conducted hundreds of seminars for prospective members interested in joining concierge programs.
